The need to interlock machine guards is a requirement under the harmonised Work, Health and Safety Regulations. While the regulations make mention of the need for interlocked guards, further information can be found in AS4024.1601 and AS4024.1602. An interlock is required if a permanently fixed guard is not suitable. While a removable guard can be used where an interlocked guard is not reasonably practicable, Electro 80 will be able to assist in the selection and design of suitable guarding and lifecycle design and documentation where an interlocked guard is selected.
Machinery that could benefit from well designed interlocked guards include:
- Flow Wrapping Machines
- Dough Mixers
